Cork University Dental School and Hospital is located in Wilton on the campus of Cork University Hospital and is the centre for dental education and research in the South of Ireland. It has an excellent reputation for highly competent graduates, clinical teaching, clinical practice and research.

We wish to advertise postgraduate clinical doctorate programmes in Orthodontics and Oral Surgery as well as a taught Masters in Dental Public Health.

Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) in Orthodontics
Applications are invited for this three year full-time postgraduate training programme in orthodontics commencing in October 2018.
The training programme has been approved by the Irish Committee for Specialist Training in Dentistry. The programme has a modular format and covers all aspects of contemporary clinical and theoretical orthodontics. There is also a research component. On successful completion of the programme, a trainee will be awarded a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) by the National University of Ireland and will be eligible for registration as an Orthodontist in the Register of Dental Specialists maintained by the Dental Council of Ireland. The programme will be delivered in a modern teaching and clinical facility that includes on-site orthodontic laboratory support. Candidate selection will take into consideration the breadth and depth of relevant experience.

Please note: Students on this DClinDent programme will be unsalaried and will be required to pay full programme fees (including bench fees).

Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (DClinDent) in Oral Surgery
Applications are invited for this three year full-time postgraduate training programme in Oral Surgery commencing in October 2018. The training programme has been approved by the Irish Committee for Specialist Training in Dentistry. On successful completion of the programme, a trainee will be awarded a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (Oral Surgery) by the National University of Ireland and will be eligible for registration as an Oral Surgeon in the Register of Dental Specialists maintained by the Dental Council of Ireland.

Candidate selection will take into consideration the breadth and depth of relevant experience. There will also be a requirement to participate in a rota to deliver on-call emergency treatment in Cork University Hospital. Students will be remunerated for this. Please note: Students on this programme will be unsalaried and will be required to pay full programme fees (including bench fees).

Masters in Dental Public Health (MDPH)
Applications are invited for this 12 month taught Masters Degree programme, commencing in September 2018. The course is designed to facilitate health professionals in current employment with weekly contact teaching hours Thursday evenings and all-day Friday.

The curriculum prepares experienced health professionals to assume leadership roles as members of multidisciplinary teams and to be able to develop, implement and evaluate programmes which have an impact on the health of the population.

Applicants are required to have a BDS degree of the NUI or equivalent (Note: Healthcare professionals holding relevant degrees may also be considered).
